Education Awards celebrate a decade of excellence
A decade of excellence in education was celebrated at the Midlands Education Awards 2026, held at Birmingham’s Millennium Point
The event marked the 10th anniversary of the Education Awards, founded by Solihull entrepreneur and Chamber member Jas Rohel.
The awards brought together over 300 education professionals, business leaders and partners to recognise the exceptional individuals and organisations transforming the lives of young people across the Midlands.
Hosted by Phil Oldershaw, the evening celebrated excellence across schools, colleges, universities and the wider education sector, recognising those whose passion, innovation and commitment continue to shape the future of education.
The Education Awards were founded 2016 and celebrate those working in education who often go above and beyond without receiving the recognition they deserve.
Founder and CEO Jas Rohel said: “Ten years ago, I had a vision to create an awards programme dedicated to celebrating the remarkable people working in education.
“I never imagined that a decade later we would be celebrating our tenth anniversary with so many inspiring people in the room.
“Every finalist and winner represents the very best of education, and tonight is about recognising the extraordinary difference they make to the lives of young people every single day.”
The evening was supported by headline sponsor Birmingham City University, whose continued partnership has helped the Education Awards grow into one of the UK's leading education recognition events.
Professor Hanifa Shah OBE, pro vice-chancellor at Birmingham City University, delivered an inspiring address, sharing her own journey from humble beginnings to becoming one of the UK's leading education leaders.
Her message of resilience, opportunity and believing in yourself resonated with guests and reflected the values at the heart of the Education Awards.
