Employment law in focus at breakfast seminar

Pickerings Solicitors will be hosting their Employment Law Breakfast Seminar at Drayton Manor in the Park View Suite, on Tuesday 28 February (7.30am to 9.30am).

The law agency 's specialist employment team will be presenting on the hot topics below and will offer guidance on how to deal with issues in the workplace.

They will also bring attendees up to date with recent Employment tribunal Cases and what this means for them.

Kate Johnson will cover the topic of 'Is it Racist or Unconscious Bias? ', talking about how conscious and unconscious bias challenge racism and how you can improve equality, diversity and inclusion in your workplace.

The talk will consider how to avoid assumptions based on prejudice and focus on a fairer, bias-free recruitment process and workplace. Attendees will also explore how to harness a culture that reinforces positive norms, addresses preconceptions and stereotypes, and how to manage and respond to accusations of this nature in the workplace.

Peter Brady will ask attendees to consider 'Are your policies really Family Friendly? ', talking about how businesses can best support their employees during important, life-changing moments.

Covering maternity, adoption, paternity and parental leave, time off for dependants, and rights for flexible working and part-time workers, attendees will look at what the requirements are by law as a company and what their employee entitlements are.

There will also be an Employment Newsround, speaking on what has recently changed, what changes are coming up, and what will they mean for businesses along with a round-up of recent Tribunal cases.
