Businesses who are looking to assess their approach to environmental social governance (ESG) can learn more at Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce's next Good Business Forum event.

From climate change to attracting and retaining a new, more socially-minded generation of employees, recent events have brought exploring and articulating businesses' wider role in society up many companies' agendas.

The Good Business Forum is a quarterly series for GBCC members to explore how businesses are tackling this subject and why.

The next event in the series takes place in just six weeks time - at the Birmingham offices of WSP in the Mailbox on 12 October (3pm to 5pm).

Guest speakers include:

  • Emily Binning, director of corporate ESG at WSP, who will be discussing her company's approach to ESG and measuring the impact
  • Faith Walker, commercial director at FLR Group, who will talk about how the flooring contractor approaches ESG as a mid-sized business
  • Professor Monder Ram (pictured), director at the Centre for Research in Ethnic Minority Entrepreneurship at Aston University, who will be sharing highlights from his research and implications for businesses considering their social impact

Henrietta Brealey, CEO of Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce, said: “Whether they're looking to give their pitch the edge, get ahead of emerging legislation or simply do the right thing, businesses are increasingly focused on Environmental Social Governance.

“While there's plenty of interest in the subject, we often hear from businesses who aren't sure how to get started or how their approach fits with good practice.

“That's where the Good Business Forum comes in; quarterly meet-ups for Chamber members looking to learn and share their journeys in this space.”
