Birmingham City University is throwing open its doors to organisations and businesses tomorrow as it hosts a formal celebration of its ambitious BCU 2025 strategy.

The event in the University 's Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (RBC) and its STEAMhouse building - a one-time Victorian bicycle factory, now nearing completion - will include a presentation from mayor of the West Midlands Andy Street and performances from leading musicians.

It will also feature a drinks reception where guests can take in BCU 's rapidly developing City Centre campus.

The event is part of an extensive and exciting events programme that the university is hosting across the summer and autumn, aiming to illustrate BCU 's impact on the region and its ambitious plans for growth.

Doors will open at the University 's Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (RBC) at 5pm for refreshments, with guests then welcomed into RBC 's Bradshaw Hall at 6pm by Master of Ceremonies and leading media diversity champion Marcus Ryder MBE, while there will also be an address from vice-chancellor Professor Philip Plowden.

Professor Plowden said: “We are looking forward to sharing and celebrating our story of transformation and the ambitions set out in our 2025 Strategy with our communities and those who work alongside us.

“It is a chance for people to visit our University, to see for themselves how the long heritage of BCU in Birmingham is mirrored by the growth and energy of our enhanced campuses and also how our education, research and knowledge exchange enables real transformation - of individual lives and wider society. ”

The event will also feature a premier screening of a special film that will bring to life the University 's transformative work, music from Maraca2 - RBC graduates and now one of the world 's leading percussion ensembles - and a performance from the UK 's biggest folk band, The Conservatoire Folk Ensemble.

Guests will then move to nearby STEAMhouse building for an exclusive peek at the facility, which is BCU 's brand new hub for innovation and business start-ups, before enjoying an informal food and drink reception, as well as the opportunity to network with the event ending at 9pm.
