The UK Sepsis Trust are hosting a range of events throughout next month - coinciding with World Sepsis day on Monday 13 September.

Sepsis is responsible for one in five of all deaths. It affects 245,000 people in the UK every year, claiming 48,000 lives.

UKST raises awareness - with the aim of reducing the number of preventable deaths - and provides free professional support to those affected by this life-threatening condition.

Throughout September, UKST are hosting a range of events - most notably Cycle4Sepsis, a flagship fundraiser in for cyclists of all ages and abilities - more information here.

Other activities include fundraisers taking on marathons, staff awareness days in hospitals, awareness webinars at organisations such as Nuffield Health and JP Morgan, and a black-tie dinner to launch UKST in Scotland.

CEO Dr Ron Daniels (pictured) said: “In honour of World Sepsis Day, we want to protect our fellow members of the Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce by encouraging all organisations to become Sepsis Savvy.

“The campaign calls on business leaders to empower their communities to get savvy about sepsis and the symptoms. ”
