Martin Kemp, the pop legend, soap and film star, is set to star in his very own 1980s nostalgia event at a Birmingham nightclub.

Martin (pictured), former bass guitarist with 80s superstars Spandau Ballet, will be bringing an afternoon of pure ‘Gold’ to Rosies Birmingham nightclub on Broad Street on Saturday 1 February next year.

He will be delivering his own live DJ set called Back to the 80s at Rosies from 12 noon to 5pm, with perhaps a couple of Spandau hits from their impressive chart-topping catalogue thrown in for good measure.

Luisa Huggins, communications manager at Westside BID, said: "What a great treat it will be to welcome Martin Kemp to Westside! We regularly attract so many party goers on Broad Street who remember Spandau Ballet and the 1980s, and so this is set to be a hit afternoon event for hundreds of people."

A spokesperson for the event at Rosies said: “Martin, star of Spandau Ballet, will be taking to the decks and spinning all the best hits from the 1980s as he presents the biggest afternoon from that decade to ever hit Broad Street. Dig out those 1980s clothes, grab your dancing shoes, and prepare to enjoy an afternoon of pure ‘Gold’.”

During Martin's time with Spandau Ballet, the new wave band sold 25 million albums and achieved 23 hit singles worldwide. He later went into acting, starring in The Krays with older brother Gary before later appearing as Steve Owen in EastEnders.

Martin has also appeared, or presented various TV shows, including a recent appearance in The Masked Singer alongside his wife Shirlie Holliman, a former backing singer with Wham and one half of 80s pop duo, Pepsi & Shirlie.

Tickets for the Back to the 80s Rosies Daytime Club event are priced at just £10 and are available now HERE.
