Explorer to share epic adventures during Lichfield appearance
Award-winning explorer Charlie Walker will share his epic adventures and discoveries in a forthcoming talk at Lichfield’s The Hub at St Mary’s.
Charlie is an explorer, author and international keynote speaker, specialising in long distance, human-powered expeditions to develop an intimate understanding of the world’s most remote communities.
Over 15 years, he's covered 60,000plus miles by foot, horse, bicycle, ski, Kayak and dugout canoe – crossing the Tibetan plateau, Mongolian steppe, Congolese Jungle, Arctic Tundra, New Guinean highlands and the Sahara Desert.
Charlie’s presentations have been described as “hair-raising and often hilarious” – with stories from 15 years of challenging expeditions.
He is an elected Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, a Scientific Exploration Society Explorer Award winner, and a four-time recipient of the Transglobe Expedition Trust’s ‘Mad but Marvellous’ award.
He’s also the author of two books – ‘Through Sand & Snow’ and ‘On Roads That Echo’.
