Expressions of interest invited for sustainability campaign

Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce (GBCC) flagship campaign on environmental sustainability, the Sustainable Business Series, is set to return in 2023.

The Sustainable Business Series is the GBCC 's flagship campaign on sustainability and Net Zero issues.

The aim of the Sustainable Business Series is to increase awareness and stimulate action to progress businesses to net zero, through the sharing of knowledge, best practice and guidance.

The 2023 campaign covers a range of topics businesses will need to consider when adapting to the net zero transition, including:

• Understanding Energy Efficiency
• Understanding Net Zero
• Managing your Organisations Waste
• The Financial Case for Net Zero and Sustainability
• Sustainable Cities

The campaign will culminate with the Sustainable Business Series Conference in November 2023.

Kuran Singh (pictured), policy advisor at the GBCC, said: “The Chamber is delighted to announce the return of the Sustainable Business Series, following on from a hugely successful campaign last year. ”

“The last 12 months have provided a turbulent environment for businesses to operate in, with rising energy prices driving significant increases in inflation and interest rates. However, it is vitally important that environmental sustainability and the transition to Net Zero remain at the top of the agenda, and that businesses are enabled to unlock the short and longer-term opportunities associated with a just transition.

“As highlighted in the Chambers' Net Zero and Sustainability: Business Insights report, knowledge and understanding of how to achieve Net Zero is considered one of the biggest barriers in the transition.

“The Sustainable Business Series for 2023 will look to build on previous years of the campaign and provide businesses with the guidance and knowledge they need to successfully kickstart their journey to Net Zero. ”
