Families flock to Cannock Park for grand opening of new play area
Cannock Park was buzzing with excitement last Thursday as over 300 local families celebrated the grand opening of its brand-new play area - a major milestone in a wider transformation of the park.
The modern play space, designed to inspire active, inclusive, and imaginative play, was an instant hit with children and parents alike.
On the day, Cannock Police offered free bike marking to help protect local cyclists’ property, while Inspiring Healthy Lifestyles (IHL) brought the fun with a range of activities as part of the Summer SPACE programme.
Visitors also had the chance to share ideas for new public artwork that will soon brighten the park, ensuring the upgrades reflect the creativity and spirit of the community.
Councillor Lisa Wilson, Portfolio Leader for Parks, Culture and Heritage, said: “It was a pleasure to see so many residents enjoying the new play area on its opening day.
“This facility has been designed to provide a safe, stimulating environment for children of all ages, and it is already becoming a vibrant focal point for the community.”
The Friends of Cannock Park have championed the park’s development and encouraged community involvement throughout the project.
Kompan has brought innovative design expertise to create a high-quality, inclusive play environment, while the Forest of Mercia has supported environmental enhancements, including tree planting and biodiversity projects to enrich the park’s natural spaces.
