Family firm in national spotlight after being shortlisted for two awards
A family-run Midland business is celebrating after being shortlisted for no less than two prestigious national awards.
Adcocks Solicitors in Lombard Street, Lichfield, has been named as a finalist for Solicitors Firm of the Year by News On The Block (NOTB).
The 111-year-old niche law practice is one of just five legal firms shortlisted for the national accolade in NOTB 's Enfranchisement & Right to Manage Awards for 2021.
And, its Senior Director Mark Adcock, the grandson of the firm 's original founder, is one of only eight solicitors in the UK to be shortlisted in the Solicitor of the Year category.
In announcing the shortlist, NOTB said: “It is a fantastic achievement to be a finalist, especially this year. We were happy to see so many entries this year from many familiar faces and some new ones.
“The judges were therefore faced with a great deal of entries in some categories and some difficult decisions, but after two weeks of scoring and various discussions we have our final shortlist for 2021.
“We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all of the finalists. ”
Leasehold enfranchisement is a key growth area which has seen Adcocks further expand its specialist team this year - turnover has risen by over 25 per cent and three new employee posts created.
Mark Adcock said: “We 've carved out a niche in this specific area so we 're incredibly honoured to be named a finalist for such a prestigious national award as the Solicitors Firm of the Year.
“We always strive for excellence across the board, so to see Adcocks shortlisted for this title is a true testament to the dedication, hard work and professionalism of all our team who work incredibly hard to achieve the best possible outcome for all of our clients. ”
He also added: “As well as having huge pride in the continued success of our family business, being a finalist for Solicitor of the Year is also an incredible individual honour. ”
Just some of the firm 's highlights in this growth area over the last 18 months include: staging two leaseholder roadshows, in Lichfield and Birmingham; and amongst its extensive case load, handling instructions for over 200 lease extension matters, 90 freehold house enfranchisement matters, and 25 nationwide missing landlord cases, the firm 's unique area of specialism.
The winning firms and individuals will be announced on November 30 at a grand ceremony in Old Billingsgate in London.
