Family fun on offer for Lichfield dance fans at the Hub at St Mary’s
Dance fans are being invited to a memorable day of family fun at Lichfield’s Hub at St Mary’s.
The Day of Dance on Sunday June 28 promises something for all the family - with workshops and a Finale Showcase featuring live dance led by professional dancer Molly Wright.
Day of Dance: Inclusive creative dance session includes a workshop led by Lauren Russell and supported by Molly Wright from 10am.
The Hub said: “Join Lauren and Molly for a fun and creative dance workshop designed for young people (ages 11-18) with physical, sensory and/or learning disabilities. No previous dance experience is needed – just bring your energy and enthusiasm.
“This session encourages self-expression, movement exploration and connection through inclusive dance. Everyone is welcome to move in their own way, build confidence and enjoy a supportive, accessible space for creativity.”
Lauren is a Midlands-based freelance dance artist, performer and producer specialising in inclusive dance practice. She performs with Propel, the UK’s only professional all-wheelchair dance company and teaches inclusive dance sessions for Sense, ID Dance and Sidekick.
Molly is a community Dance Artist and choreographer specialising in intergenerational dance. She has created and hosted many community dance events and festivals across the UK and has a passion for bringing communities together through the arts. Tickets cost £4.
Day of Dance: Happy Human Collective Yoga starts at 11.15am (ages 6-11yrs) and 12.30pm (ages 3-7yrs)
The Hub said: “Join us for a fun and engaging yoga experience designed just for children. Happy Human Collective’s workshops offer a wonderful opportunity for parents and children to bond while making new friends, exploring yoga and enjoying songs, movement and play.
“Let your little ones discover the magic of yoga in a playful and welcoming environment. Tickets are £6 per child. Children must be accompanied by a grown-up (adults do not require a ticket and can choose to either join in or watch).”
The Nrithyam Dance Company is staging an Indian Fusion Dance & Craft Workshop from 2pm.
A Craft Workshop is being held from 2pm with Indian Fusion Dance from 2.45pm. The £6 ticket includes both sessions. “If you wish to book just for the Dance Workshop, tickets are £4.”
Day of Dance: Finale Showcase is being held from 7pm.
The Hub said: “The Lichfield Day of Dance ends with an exciting showcase of live performances. Featuring: Ascension Youth Dance Company (Sheffield), DamnFineDance (London), Dance Hub Co (Lichfield), Out of Whack (Coventry) and the Nrithyam Dance Company. Please come and join us for a fun and vibrant evening. Tickets are £5 adults / £3 children.”
