New trustees are being sought to join the Lichfield Festival board to help oversee the city 's annual 11-day arts and culture spectacular.

Helen Wiser, chair of the Festival, said the board was looking for 'arts-loving Trustees who can widen the breadth and diversity of our current Board. '

“It 's an opportunity to give something back ' whilst developing your own skills and experience within a well-respected and vibrant arts organisation. ”

“Arts and culture transcend all barriers and our aim is to engage, entertain, educate and inspire all corners of the community and beyond - bringing joy and colour into people 's lives.

“Our Summer programme covers 60+ ticketed events alongside free, community events and an extensive Learning & Participation programme.

“The cathedral is our flagship, but we run events throughout the city covering all genres of music, dance, comedy, theatre and visual arts. ”

Lichfield Festival was established as a registered charity in 1981, running an annual multi-arts festival, a literature festival, a chamber music weekend and other ad hoc fund-raising events. Past performers include Nicola Benedetti, Paul Merton, the Halle Orchestra, KT Tunstall (pictured), The Sixteen, Neil and Katya Jones, Philip Glass, Tony Hadley and Ballet Cymru.

Helen added: “We believe that the creative arts have the power to transform people 's lives, and we want to engage and inspire the next generation of artists and audiences. If you think you could help us in that mission with new ideas and innovative thinking, then we would love to hear from you - particularly if you have skills or background experience in education, marketing, or the arts sector.

“Please do not be put off applying if you 've never been a Trustee before, as enthusiasm, life skills and passion are far more important. Strategic direction and governance remain our cornerstone, but practical help is also needed to support our small but committed staff team and army of volunteers.

“We hold six to eight board meetings a year in Lichfield and you would be expected to attend or help at ad hoc Festival events. You have the option to join a subcommittee if you have the time and experience to help with specific issues. ”
