Fieldfisher announces location of new Birmingham office
European law firm Fieldfisher will be relocating its Birmingham office to a new city centre location at Two Chamberlain Square, part of the £1.2 billion Paradise Birmingham development, at the end of 2025.
The central office space will enable Fieldfisher to grow its offering across the UK as well as Europe, increase the firm's involvement in the region's business community and continue to deliver market-leading services to its clients.
With Birmingham's excellent travel connections – London is just 80 minutes away by train, and Birmingham Airport, the UK's third largest regional airport, offers 133 direct flights daily – the firm can continue to foster and grow its European connections.
This strategic move will enable Fieldfisher to double its staff over the next five years, attracting talent from the region and offering opportunities for those who might have left to work in other areas of the UK to return.
Fieldfisher’s managing partner, Robert Shooter, said: "With its strong European connections, Birmingham has been a key location for us to continue working towards our strategy of becoming Europe's leading law firm.
“Moving our team to a city centre location will allow us to nurture our existing client relationships and build new ones as we grow our team and our capabilities in the region."
The grade A office space is situated at the heart of Birmingham's professional services cluster, providing Fieldfisher with proximity to clients, partners, and intermediaries.
The space will support the law firm in its journey to sustainability, while enhancing both employee wellbeing and the client experience.
Ranjit Dhindsa (pictured), Partner and Birmingham Office leader, said: "Fieldfisher's sector focus aligns perfectly with the West Midlands' strengths in tech, life sciences, and green energy.
“Our strategy is centred around growing our capabilities and maintaining our position as a market leading European law firm, and Birmingham has the connections to allow us to do that.
"The West Midlands is the UK’s leading destination outside of London for international investment, which is a testament to the city's dynamic growth and potential.
As a firm, we want to be part of the exciting business environment in Birmingham."
Fieldfisher Birmingham has doubled its turnover in the last six years and was the fastest growing office in the firm's network in 2023/24, posting a revenue increase of 16 per cent.
The office has recently welcomed a host of lateral hires, with Victoria Bentley, who is establishing the Birmingham Intellectual Property practice, joining, alongside specialist Dispute Resolution partner, Darren Kenny and Medical Negligence partner, Mandy Luckman.
Last year, the Birmingham Corporate practice announced the hire of partner Tom Rush who joined from Gateley Legal.
In July, the office also saw nine promotions across Employment, Dispute Resolution, Real Estate, Tax and IT, demonstrating the Birmingham team’s commitment to growth and development.
With 15 Partners and a total of 66 staff, Fieldfisher Birmingham offers expertise across eight business units: Specialist Disputes, Real Estate, Corporate, Employment, Pensions Immigration and Compliance (EPIC), Intellectual Property, Tax Litigation and Private Client, and Personal Injury & Medical Negligence (PIMN).
With a strategy focus on Business Transformation and Specialist Disputes, recent highlights include advising one of the world's largest electronics distributors on a European recruitment project and advising Cambridge Medipark Limited and Prologis Group on a 15-year lease of 23,000 sq. ft. of laboratory and office space to Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and advising Godwin Group on the acquisition of two brownfield sites from Nottingham City Council for the construction of 102 affordable homes, set to contribute more than £150,000 to the local community and infrastructure.
