Staffordshire based, Legionella and Fire Safe Services (LFS), a leading provider of Legionella, fire safety, and social housing construction solutions, has been named as the Specialist Contractor of the Year at the National Building and Construction Awards held in London last week.

Amidst fierce competition from top players in the industry, LFS emerged victorious, securing the award in recognition of their exceptional contributions to the field.

The company's commitment to excellence and innovation was showcased through its award submission, which prominently featured a standout project undertaken on behalf of principal contractors Wates Construction for Tamworth Borough Council.

The project in question addressed issues raised by tenants concerning unpleasant odours attributed to leaks resulting from waste build-up within the building's pipework.

The complexity of the task was magnified by the building's age and the challenging location of the original stack, making the installation of new pipework a formidable challenge.

Adding to the complexity were alterations to the flat layouts over the years, including the conversion of bathrooms to wet rooms and the relocation of basins and toilets.

LFS tackled these challenges head-on with the goal of providing the most efficient solution for replacing the drainage stack, opting for the sustainable Terrain FUZE system as the ideal choice.

They were also able to complete this project without moving the residents to temporary accommodation and minimising disruption.

With a multi-trade team, LFS seamlessly completed all necessary fire-stopping works and carpentry tasks using various specialist teams within the business.

This approach ensured a single point of contact for the entire project, minimising disruption to the residents and enhancing overall efficiency.

Steve Morris, managing director of LFS said: "Receiving this accolade is truly remarkable for us, particularly in such a vast industry with a nationwide presence.

“Our expertise in live stack replacement works for local authorities and social housing is a specialised service.

“However, consolidating the fire safety aspects and carpentry works under one company significantly streamlines the entire process.

“This not only benefits the residents but also simplifies the experience for the principal contractor, dealing with a singular entity to complete the entire project.

“I dedicate this award to every team member involved in this project, proudly acknowledging that 'We truly are nothing without our People.”
