Businesses are urged to join an in-person Local Engagement Meeting (LEM) focused on homelessness along with the causes, barriers and solutions available to the issue.

Participants will also have the opportunity to hear inspiring stories from those with lived experience.

The event is scheduled to happen at the Birmingham Library on Thursday, 25 April from 10 am to 2 pm. Lunch will be provided. Click here to book.

It is organised by the Serco Restart Scheme, a part of the Government’s wider ‘Plan for Jobs’ programmes which aims to enhance skills for individuals to secure long-term, meaningful employment.

Serco delivers the Restart Scheme in partnership with 15 delivery partners across West Central England, on behalf of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

Presenters include Birmingham City’s Cabinet Member for Housing and Homelessness, Councillor Jayne Francis, who will be delivering a keynote speech on the homelessness agenda as well as talks from St Basils, Spring Housing, Crisis and Salvation Army.

There will also be a panel discussion.

Serco Restart Scheme host monthly LEMs aimed at stakeholders across West Central England including Birmingham, West Bromwich, Coventry, Shropshire, Herefordshire, and Worcestershire. Those that would benefit from attending include Employers, Training Organisations, Charities and DWP.

Claire Tynan (pictured), partnership manager for the Serco Restart Scheme said: “We are excited to be collaborating with individuals and organisations with a wealth of knowledge and who are passionate about the homelessness agenda.

“Our event is not just about learning; it's about action. We foster partnerships, work together and create referral mechanisms for the benefit of the homeless. We hope you can join us.”
