The first speaker has been confirmed for the upcoming Q1 Quarterly Business Report launch event organised by the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce (GBCC).

Carl Potter (pictured), principal and managing director of Avison Young will be joining the panel at the upcoming Q1 Quarterly Business Report launch event.

The event, happening at Birmingham City University on 20 April, will focus on Investment in Greater Birmingham.

Carl joined Avison Young in 1986 and, following qualification as a chartered surveyor, began to specialise in office agency, particularly the emerging out-of-town business and science park sectors.

He was first appointed to the Partnership Board in 2000 and, following this, was part of the five-person operations executive who oversaw the day-to-day running of the firm.

In 2008, Carl was designated national head of office agency, a position he held for 10 years before stepping down to take over his current managing director role.

Carl more recently chaired Avison Young's UK Executive Committee and continues to lead the company's science and technology park capabilities.

Sponsored by Birmingham City University and now a well-established feature in the local business calendar, these high-quality events attract a senior level audience for networking, discussion and intelligence sharing.

The Quarterly Business Report offers an up-to-date snapshot of the performance of the Greater Birmingham business community.

As the flagship economic publication of the GBCC, it is the most comprehensive regular report of its kind in the city-region. Underpinning the report is data gathered from quarterly surveys completed by businesses from across the Greater Birmingham area.

Raj Kandola, director of external affairs said: “We are delighted that Carl will be joining the panel for our upcoming Quarterly Business Report launch event to discuss the broader investment trends across the region.

“As we emerge from a period of economic uncertainty, investment across Greater Birmingham remains in a healthy position which is key to driving economic growth and raising the profile of the region on the international stage.

“Carl is an expert in his field and it will be fascinating to hear how the investment landscape has changed over the years and to discuss the exciting projects on the horizon. ”
