Football club raises £2,085 for Sutton Coldfield cancer charity
A football club raised £2,085 for a Sutton Coldfield cancer charity through participation in the Royal Sutton Fun Run.
Sutton United’s team of 79 runners – made up of players and coaches from the club’s junior and senior sections, along with coaches, supporters, volunteers and family members - took part in the run to raise funds for the Cancer Support Centre.
The club were inspired to support the Cancer Support Centre after meeting the centre manager Jackie Price at a business networking event.
The charity aims to help anyone who has received a cancer diagnosis, as well as those in their support network.
A spokesperson for Sutton United said: “The Royal Sutton Coldfield Fun Run provided the perfect opportunity, and the response from across the club was nothing short of remarkable.
“Wearing the club colours with pride, participants came together to support an important local cause while demonstrating the strength and spirit of the Sutton United community.
“The event proved to be a fantastic day for everyone involved, showcasing the power of community action and the difference that can be made when people unite behind a common goal.
“Sutton United would like to thank every runner, donor, volunteer and supporter who contributed to making the fundraising effort such a success, as well as Jackie and everyone at The Cancer Support Centre for the invaluable work they continue to provide within the community.”
