Environmental and social governance (ESG), social value and CSR are among the topics on the agenda when the Chamber 's Good Business Forum returns this month.

The quarterly forum for Chamber members explores how businesses are tackling these subjects - and why.

Each event involves a business case study, a professional advisor and a representative from the public or third sector sharing their insights and perspectives before a series of roundtable discussions.

The latest event on 18 January takes place at the Birmingham office of RSM, at 103 Colmore Row.

Guest speakers include RSM 's partner and head of governance Karl George (pictured), Curium Solutions co-founder Andy Dawson and Siamha Butt, head of engagement at the West Midland Reserve Forces and Cadets Association (WMRFCA).

Karl George , will provide up-to-date insights on ESG, while Andy Dawson is to discuss Curium 's approach to 'good business ', including the change consultancy 's journey to becoming employee-owned.

Siamha Butt will be sharing an overview of - and opportunities for businesses in - employer engagement with the Armed Forces

Feedback from the 2022 series revealed 86 per cent of delegates learned something new at a Good Business Forum which they could directly apply in their organisation or role. Ninety-three per cent made new contacts.

Henrietta Brealey, chief executive of Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce ,said: “The Good Business Forum is back for 2023. Over the past year it has developed into a really engaged network within the Chamber.

“The overwhelming majority of previous attendees report that they both learned something new that they can apply in their organisation and made new connections.

“With subjects like Environmental and Social Governance, social value and the role of business in wider society expected to become even more topical over the coming months, why not make it your new year 's resolution to drop in and see what you can learn too? ”
