Free backstage apprenticeships seminar to be launched

Innovate Create Apprenticeship Network in partnership with The National Theatre and Creative Alliance are hosting a free Backstage Theatre Apprenticeships Seminar on Thursday, 20 October, from 2pm to 5pm at The National Theatre, London.

Aimed at employers in theatre and live events, the Backstage Theatre Apprenticeship Seminar aims to raise awareness of the opportunities available now in backstage and technical roles.

From existing Apprenticeships such as creative venue technician to new apprenticeships including costume performance technician, props technician and wigs, hair, makeup & prosthetics technician, the seminar will cover opportunities across the whole theatre and live event sector.

The event runs from 2pm until 5pm at The National Theatre, London and is free to attend. Attendees will hear from event organisers Innovate Awarding, The National Theatre and Creative Alliance.

They also can hear about best practices from experienced backstage apprentice employers, be updated on the apprenticeship opportunities available across the sector, and have the opportunity to take a backstage tour of the National Theatre.

Noel Dunne, director of creative alliance said: “There is a crisis in employment in backstage and technical roles, brought about by so many leaving the profession as a result of the closure of venues during the pandemic.

“This seminar is an opportunity to find out about existing and new apprenticeships created to help rectify this situation and support the sector in building their workforce back up. ”

Organised and delivered by Creative Alliance, the Backstage Theatre Apprenticeships Seminar is a collaboration with Innovate Awarding and The National Theatre.
