Law firm Shakespeare Martineau is hosting a free two-day 'Investment Readiness Workshop ' at its Birmingham office hub, in partnership with Midven.

Taking place on Tuesday 6 September and Tuesday 13 September in 1 Colmore Square, the workshop is aimed at ambitious SMEs looking to raise investment and scale-up.

It will equip business owners with everything they need to know to raise investment and give them the opportunity to apply what they have learnt and pitch to a panel of venture capitalists and angel investors.

Business owners will also be able to hear from experts in venture capital investment, pitch decks, grant funding, employment law, marketing plans and financial forecasting - picking up practical tips to take their businesses forward.

From Shakespeare Martineau, Matt McDonald and Emma Oliver will provide employment law tips and Peter Mayhew will be speaking about investment documents.

Gweni Rees-Evans (pictured), corporate solicitor at Shakespeare Martineau, said: “We work with a lot of start-up, SME and fast growth companies, helping them negotiate and navigate the complexities of investment as well as the legal implications that come with a growing business, such as increased employees and employment contracts, substantial supplier contracts and directors ' duties.

“We 're really pleased to be part of this year 's event and looking forward to connecting with growing businesses from across Birmingham and the West Midlands. ”
