Free workshop offers construction sector a smarter way to cut waste and costs
Construction businesses across the West Midlands are being offered a unique opportunity this summer to reduce waste, lower costs, and build valuable connections – all before lunchtime.
A free Resource Matching Workshop, hosted by International Synergies Ltd in partnership with Sustainability West Midlands, will take place on Thursday, 17 July, from 8am to 11am at the National Motorcycle Museum.
The event kicks off with a networking breakfast, giving local businesses the chance to connect over coffee before diving into an engaging, solutions-focused session.
Part of the West Midlands Resource Reuse Network (WMRRN), this workshop is designed to help companies find new uses for waste materials, identify resource-sharing opportunities, and discover cost-effective ways to manage energy, water, and raw materials.
It’s a practical response to growing industry pressures - from rising disposal costs to the urgent need to cut carbon.
While open to all sectors, this edition of the workshop will prioritise the construction sector and its supply chain.
With the construction industry facing material shortages and sustainability challenges, the timing couldn’t be better.
The session promises to be highly interactive, with the WMRRN team on hand to guide discussions and support real-time resource matching between businesses.
Attendees are encouraged to bring details of any materials they need or have in surplus, from waste by-products to underused resources.
Ian Humphreys, chief operating officer of International Synergies said: “This isn’t just another event.
“It’s a chance for construction companies to find practical, profitable ways to operate more sustainably—while building stronger local networks.”
Places are free but limited.
