Freight firm Millennium Cargo marks 30 years in business

A freight forwarding company is celebrating 30 years in business, having grown from a one-man operation into an established international freight business spanning air, sea and road solutions.

Sutton Coldfield-headquartered Millennium Cargo was founded in 1996 by Chadd Blunt, who began his career in freight as an apprentice 38 years ago before establishing the company eight years later - building the business on principles of personal service and honest communication that remain in place today.

Millennium Cargo has since developed a track record for staff development, with several team members remaining with the business for decades and others progressing from apprenticeships into senior roles.

The firm recently welcomed its newest apprentice, continuing a tradition that stretches back to Blunt's own start in the industry.

The business has also become a family affair, with Blunt's daughter Keeley Blunt now serving as finance director and his son Connor Blunt, who joined the company as an apprentice, now commercial director.

Chadd Blunt said: “When I started Millennium Cargo in 1996, I wanted to build a business that delivered an excellent freight service whilst genuinely adding value for our customers - helping them save money and making moving their goods easy and hassle-free.

“I'm incredibly proud that, 30 years later, those same values still sit at the heart of everything we do.

“Of course, you don't reach 30 years in business on your own, and I'd like to say a huge thank you to every client who has trusted us with their business over the years, as well as every team member, supplier and partner who has contributed to Millennium's story.

“As we celebrate this fantastic milestone, we're looking ahead with real excitement about what's still to come.

“The first 30 years have given us an incredible foundation, and now we get to build on it - continuing to grow Millennium Cargo, support our customers and play our part in making the freight industry better for the businesses that rely on it.”

Over the past three decades, the company has navigated significant industry change, including advances in technology, increasing globalisation, Brexit, the pandemic and wider disruption to global supply chains, while maintaining the personal approach it was founded on.

The milestone comes as Millennium Cargo prepares for its next phase of growth, with the company strengthening its commercial capabilities and continuing to invest in its people as it looks to the future.
