From vision to global impact: The story behind OAW Brand
Written by Rokeebat Mustapha from OAW Brand Consulting
Every business has a beginning. Some begin with significant investment, others with established networks and resources. OAW Brand began with a vision, determination, and a belief that businesses created in Africa could compete and thrive on a global stage.
In 2020, amidst the uncertainty that followed the COVID-19 pandemic, I founded OAW Brand with a simple but ambitious goal: to build products and solutions that could transcend borders and create lasting impact.
While many businesses were navigating unprecedented challenges, I saw an opportunity to think beyond immediate limitations and begin laying the foundation for something bigger.
At the time, the vision was clear, but the pathway was not.
The following year brought another major turning point. In 2021, I relocated to the United Kingdom to pursue further studies in International Business, having previously earned a degree in Biochemistry. Like many entrepreneurs who move abroad in pursuit of education and growth, I quickly discovered that building a business across continents was far more challenging than I had imagined.
There were regulatory requirements to navigate, business registration processes to understand, and limitations associated with operating as an international student.
Establishing visibility in a highly competitive market was another challenge altogether. At the same time, I remained responsible for managing business activities and supporting team members in Nigeria, creating the complexities of leading a growing enterprise from thousands of miles away.
The experience tested every aspect of entrepreneurship, leadership, adaptability, patience, and resilience.
There were moments when the obstacles seemed overwhelming. Yet every challenge became a lesson, every setback an opportunity to improve, and every difficult season strengthened the foundation upon which OAW Brand was being built.
What sustained the business was consistency.
Rather than allowing circumstances to define the future of the company, I focused on continuous learning, relationship-building, and creating value. Over time, OAW Brand evolved beyond its original scope, becoming a platform that supports food entrepreneurs, agro-allied businesses, SMEs, founders, and growth-focused enterprises seeking practical pathways to scale and sustainability.
As we worked closely with clients and entrepreneurs, another opportunity emerged.
Many business owners were facing similar challenges: managing growth, accessing the right resources, organising operations, and scaling effectively in increasingly competitive markets. We recognized the need for a solution that could simplify the growth journey for entrepreneurs while making business support more accessible.
This insight led to the development of GetScaley, a software platform designed to help entrepreneurs and businesses streamline their growth processes and access valuable business support tools.
Built from real-world entrepreneurial experiences, GetScaley reflects the challenges we encountered and the solutions we wished had existed when our journey began.
Today, OAW Brand represents more than a business. It is an ecosystem built on innovation, resilience, and a commitment to helping entrepreneurs succeed.
From supporting food businesses and SMEs to developing digital solutions that empower growth, the mission remains the same: creating opportunities that enable businesses to scale, sustain, and compete globally.
Looking back, the journey from a post-pandemic startup to an international business platform has not been defined by ease, but by perseverance. It is proof that with vision, resilience, and a willingness to adapt, challenges can become steppingstones toward meaningful impact.
As OAW Brand continues to grow, our focus remains firmly on supporting entrepreneurs, fostering innovation, and contributing to a business landscape where ambition is not limited by geography.
The story of OAW Brand is still being written, and the most exciting chapters are yet to come.
