Fully-funded initiative launched to help social enterprises grow
Aston Centre for Enterprise & Entrepreneurship has launched the Social Economy Growth Programme - a fully funded initiative designed to help early‑stage social enterprises, community businesses, cooperatives and charities across the West Midlands strengthen their business capability and grow their organisation.
Running from 9 February to the end of March 2026, the programme provides expert‑led workshops, peer‑learning sessions and dedicated mentoring.
Participants also receive a diagnostic assessment, a tailored growth roadmap and an incentivised grant of up to £1,000 to support their development.
The previous programme delivered outstanding results, generating £9.5 million in social value, a £30 return for every £1 invested. Participants increased traded income by £4.9 million, created 169.5 new FTE jobs and 702 volunteer roles, and 95% said they would recommend the programme.
One participant described the programme as transformative, stating: “The programme has been fantastic, with informative and inspiring workshops that helped us focus on developing new commercial services.
“Working with my mentor was invaluable - he provided a great sounding board, encouraged new ways of thinking, and helped me set clear goals to move the organisation forward.”
