Fun run organiser honoured by Chamber president
The director of an annual running event which has been hailed “a significant draw” for the Sutton Coldfield area was recognised by Royal Sutton Coldfield Chamber president Naeem Arif.
Tracey Spare, event director of the Royal Sutton Fun Run, received the Chamber’s President’s Award during an awards dinner at The Belfry.
The fun run has been part of the Royal Town’s calendar for more than 40 years and the 2023 event raised more than £180,000 for good causes.
Speaking at the Royal Sutton Coldfield, Lichfield & Tamworth and Cannock Chase Chambers awards, Mr Arif said: “Sport and leisure are significant draws for the region, and the Royal Sutton Fun Run, a major event for over 40 years, is supported by our Chamber friends Cookes Furniture and Doug Wright’s McDonald's.
“This annual opportunity allows us to showcase the region again. The event brings together numerous charity initiatives, raising over £180,000 last year.
“The amount of organisation that goes into this is enormous, and the social impact it delivers to the region is equally significant.
“This year, when choosing the President’s Award, we had several nominees to review.
“After careful discussion between myself and my vice-presidents, we have decided to recognise the fantastic work done by Tracey Spare over a number of years for Sutton Coldfield.”
The SLTC awards dinner – sponsored by Amazon and South Staffordshire College - was attended by more than 250 people.
