Funeral directors provide region's first zero-emissions cortege

Murray 's Funeral Directors of Burton, Derby, Swadlincote & Barton, have just taken delivery of their new grey Mercedes hybrid hearse and limousine and are proud to be the first Funeral Directors in the Derbyshire and Staffordshire area to be able to provide a zero-emissions funeral cortege, working alongside a fully electric Nissan Leaf which they introduced last month.

Owner David Barke said: “We understand that families are more aware and concerned about their impact on the environment and now look at ways to reduce this, so we are immensely proud to play our part in this move towards a greener society. The new vehicles allow us to continue to be at the forefront of both contemporary and traditional funerals. ”

This zero-emissions option adds to the choice Murray 's provide for loved ones ' funeral arrangements. They are still able to offer their Black Hearse and Limousine fleet for those who prefer them, but since they introduced their grey fleet to Burton last year, they have proved extremely popular.

As part of their environmental policy, the funeral directors are also introducing energy-saving initiatives at their Burton office prior to rolling them out at their other branches. Going green means reducing the overall environmental impact of their business and lowering their carbon footprint, as well as protecting their community and environment.
