Future Faces hosts BYPY alumni event

The Future Faces division welcomed Birmingham Young Professional of the Year awards alumni to a special event on Wednesday, where attendees had the chance to reminisce and share experiences on past awards, as well as discuss the upcoming awards this year.

The event was held on Colmore Row with Rewired PR, hosted by Ruth Pipkin and Nicola Fleet-Milne, with a wide range of past award winners in attendance such as Michael Shepherd, Anthony McCourt and Laura Thursfield.

Speaking about the event, Nicola Fleet-Milne said: "Winning at BYPY had such a tremendous impact on my career, opening doors across the city and region. I would encourage young professionals to apply and enjoy the process; there is nothing quite like this event and the subsequent recognition."

This year, the Greater Birmingham Young Professional of the Year awards will be held at the Eastside Rooms on 22 September. The renamed awards reflect the BPS network, Birmingham Future, merging with the young professionals division of Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce back in 2020.

The deadline for award entries is 24 July 2023, and the shortlist for the awards will be announced on 21 August.

The 14 awards categories are:

  1. Change and Sustainability Young Professional of the Year
  2. Creative Arts and Culture Young Professional of the Year
  3. Engineering and Manufacturing Young Professional of the Year
  4. Finance Young Professional of the Year
  5. Greater Birmingham Apprentice of the Year
  6. Legal Young Professional of the Year
  7. People and Wellbeing Young Professional of the Year
  8. Retail and Hospitality Young Professional of the Year
  9. Sales, Marketing and Communications Young Professional of the Year
  10. Start-ups, Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Young Professional of the Year
  11. Technology and Innovation Young Professional of the Year
  12. Third Sector Young Professional of the Year
  13. Training and Education Young Professional of the Year
  14. Future Faces Ambassador (committee decision)

One of the category winners will be crowned the overall Greater Birmingham Young Professional of the Year.
