Games briefing events to showcase city's strengths
Birmingham City Council is holding a series of briefing events during the Commonwealth Games to highlight the city 's key sectoral strengths, opportunities for growth and cultural legacy.
The specially themed breakfasts will bring together policymakers, businesses, creatives, innovators and investors as well as anyone keen to find out more about Birmingham 's credentials and plans, with time for networking and discussion.
Councillor Ian Ward (pictured), leader of Birmingham City Council, has encouraged local and international businesses and stakeholders to make the most of this opportunity.
He said: “The Games are a once in a lifetime opportunity to showcase our great city and we're determined to deliver the maximum benefits for our people and businesses.
“The breakfast briefings will bring together local and Commonwealth businesses, stakeholders and dignitaries, as we shine a spotlight on the sectors, talent and people at the forefront of Birmingham's golden decade of opportunity. ”
The briefings will take place across the Games period and will be held at the city 's latest and most exciting addition to its culinary scene, Vinoteca in Chamberlain Square.
A complimentary breakfast is included.

Birmingham Transformed (Friday 29 July, 07:45 - 09:15)
Hear from Birmingham City Council, MEPC and Arup's on their ambitions and emerging plans for the further development and growth of the city centre and what that means for the future of modern business services.
The 3 Cities Initiative (Monday 1 August, 07:45 - 09:15)
The briefing is a chance to hear from the Chief Executives of Birmingham, Coventry and Wolverhampton as to how their unique collaboration will accelerate green economic growth and investment opportunities within the city and region.
Sport and Health (Tuesday 2 August, 07:45 - 09:15)
This breakfast is an opportunity to hear about the innovative work Birmingham has been leading on to strengthen the integration of clinical advice on physical activity into our pathways of care. The session will also reflect on how we can strengthen partnerships between sports, healthcare professionals and physical activity providers for our diverse global city.

Join us for this digital breakfast briefing and find out more about the city 's digital offer; the critical building blocks that we are putting in place and our ambitious smart city plans that makes us proud to Be Bold, Be Birmingham.
High Speed Rail - transforming the city (Thursday 4 August, 07:45 - 09:15)
Join senior leaders from Birmingham City Council, HS2 Ltd and Arup for a high-level exploration of how High Speed Rail is driving growth across the city and region, in particular new supply chain opportunity and inward investment for Birmingham 's Golden Decade.

The Games Opening Ceremony will shine a light on the depth of local creativity and culture in Birmingham - Heart FM 's Ed James will host a session that will explore how the Games can energise our creative sector and institutions and deliver a genuine legacy for the culture and heritage of the city.v
