Gardens seek nominations for £20,000 fund
The Castle Bromwich Hall Gardens Trust are asking for people's help in voting for them to receive £20,000 from the Severn Trent Community Fund.
The awards allocate £250,000 to top projects helping to reduce carbon and help communities care for nature.
The final winners of the bronze, silver and gold awards will be those that get the highest number of votes in each category.
Nominated in the gold category, there are 8 awards up for grabs and Castle Brown Hall Gardens are the only Solihull-based charity to be in with a chance of winning.
The trust are very pleased to have been nominated by Severn Trent and, if they win, they will use the £20,000 grant for their project 'Going with the Flow' to support work inside the Gardens and the Parklands.
The money will enable them to build rainwater harvesting systems for their outhouses, restore an ancient Holloway and field boundary for bats and birds, enable the sustainable management of our gardens and trees, and help run foraging workshops and other family friendly activities.
Voting closes on April 24 and there is only one vote per household.
Glynis Powell, general manager of the Gardens, said: “Like many charities of our size, the last two years have been very difficult in terms of generating revenue. This money will be an incredible shot in the arm to help us make the Gardens even more attractive to local wildlife and make the Gardens a very enjoyable place to visit for families to relax and enjoy an outside space, the support you give us with your vote will be appreciated by the staff and the army of volunteers that maintain the gardens."
