Garrick launches second season of Creative Burntwood shows and events

Creative Burntwood has unveiled its second season of shows, bringing family entertainment, live music and comedy to venues across Burntwood.

The new season opens with Magical Honey, a dance show blending South Asian dance, culture and heritage, at Chase Terrace Community Centre on 20 September (2pm, age 5+).

Other family shows include MakeBeth, a craft-based retelling of Macbeth using cardboard creations, at Ashmole Bowls & Social Club on 11 October (8pm, age 7+), and The Witch Who Couldn't Sleep, an interactive Halloween storytelling show at Burntwood Memorial Institute on 25 October (2pm and 4.30pm, age 3+).

Further ahead, Secrets of the Selkie Sea, a wordless performance using bunraku puppetry, comes to Chase Terrace Community Centre on 16 January (1pm, age 6+), while The Zoo that Comes to You brings puppet animals to Burntwood Library on 7 April (11am and 2pm, age 5+).

For babies and toddlers, Babies Adventures in Music offers £5 sensory sessions at Burntwood Memorial Institute on 15 March (12.30pm and 2pm, age 0-18 months).

For adults, Manford's Comedy Club returns to Burntwood Memorial Institute on 26 September (8pm, age 16+), featuring up-and-coming comedians from the UK circuit.

Folk musicians Kathryn Roberts & Sean Lakeman, winners of BBC Radio 2's Folk Awards Best Duo, perform at the Institute on 7 October (7.30pm), and Tales After Dark brings ghost stories to Burntwood Library on 18 March (7pm, age 14+).

The festive programme includes A Christmas Carol at St Anne's Church on 4 December (7pm, 12.30pm and 2pm), with mince pies and mulled wine available for an additional £3, and A Christmas Story at Ashmole Bowls & Social Club on 12 December (age 5-11).
