Lichfield Garrick has launched a new Creative Hub close to the theatre, giving its productions, young performers and local arts groups a dedicated rehearsal and workshop space.

The facility, a stone's throw from the Garrick, includes an air-conditioned rehearsal studio with a dancefloor, along with meeting rooms. It will host workshops, classes, meetings and exhibitions.

Rehearsals for this year's festive productions, Robin Hood and A Shoddy Nativity, are already under way at the hub.

The Garrick's team also expects to use the space to develop and rehearse new musicals, following the success of its in-house production Disenchanted!

The hub will be the home of Garrick Youth Theatre and will be used regularly by performing arts students at South Staffordshire College.

It will also support local amateur societies, youth theatres, community groups and individual artists.

Daniel Buckroyd, artistic director and CEO of Lichfield Garrick, said: “Having this space means that we can both expand the opportunities we offer the communities we serve here in Staffordshire and play a bigger role in the creation of new works that will inspire and engage audiences in the years ahead.”
