The long-lasting and rich history of the Birmingham Young Professional of the Year (BYPY) Awards was spotlighted last night at a special celebration for this year’s Greater Birmingham Young Professional of the Year Awards 2025.

This year’s awards finalists, BYPY alumni, judges and senior leaders gathered at the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery to celebrate the legacy of the awards, highlighting the talent and achievements of both the current awards finalists and previous awards winners.

This year marks 25 years of BYPY, the Birmingham Young Professional of the Year Awards, dating back to when the awards were first launched under the BPS Network, which later merged with Birmingham Future to create the Greater Birmingham Young Professional of the Year Awards.

The evening showcased the stories of the BYPY winners right back to the first awards in 2001, emphasizing the impact winning BYPY has had on their careers. The celebration also shone a spotlight on this year's 77 shortlisted applicants.

Morgan Paine, who is shortlisted in the Built Environment and Engineering category, said: “It feels fantastic to be nominated and to be recognised for everything I do at work, and everything I do for the charity Cure Leukaemia outside of work.”

Becca Horley, who is shortlisted in the Legal category, said: “It’s incredibly exciting to be shortlisted for the Greater Birmingham Young Professional of the Year Awards. I am so excited to celebrate with everyone and the talent that we have in this city.”

Ruth Chipperfield, who is shortlisted in the Creative Industries and Culture category, said: “Being nominated and being a finalist has been amazing, but actually the thing that I have really loved is just meeting loads of different people who are passionate about Birmingham and who are ambitious to make it a better place.”

The celebration also saw the official announcement of the new Future Faces charity of the year. Commonwealth Games legacy charity United By 2022 will take the baton from Birmingham Youth Sports Academy (BYSA). As part of the new partnership, United By 2022 will open up 100 places for Future Faces members to join its dedicated Volunteers Collective, which works to bring communities together by supporting a variety of large-scale events across the region.

The Greater Birmingham Young Professional of the Year Awards 2025 will take place on Friday, 17 October at the ICC Birmingham.
