Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce (GBCC) delivered a workshop on Understanding Tender Documents and Buyer Requirements this week, as part of the ongoing Get Ready 2 Supply programme.

Get Ready 2 Supply helps SMEs in East Birmingham and North Solihull access new contracting opportunities with larger organisations across the region.

This programme is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and delivered by the Chambers in partnership with business support specialists Newable.

This event equipped firms with essential tendering and buyer requirements skills, as well as the confidence, strategies and knowledge to break through barriers and achieve “win-win” outcomes with prospective buyers.

The event featured an introduction from Maisie Salter, marketing coordinator at the GBCC, followed by an interactive and practical session from Charles Grosstephan, director of development at Thornton & Lowe.

Participants engaged in a structured session, where Charles took the time to really know each business, breaking down ideas from tender documents, going through key terminology and concepts, and how to respond to requirements, whilst also helping the businesses on common pitfalls to avoid.

Emily Stubbs, head of policy at the GBCC, said: “This event was an excellent opportunity to support East Birmingham and North Solihull businesses in developing the skills they need to fully understand tender documents and buyer requirements.

“We'd like to extend our thanks to Charles for leading a great session, offering real-world insights and simulating the competitive environment firms are operating in to allow delegates to practice their skills.

“We look forward to confirming the details of further Get Ready 2 Supply events shortly and encourage anyone interested in the programme in the meantime to register for the programme to access bespoke support to win new contracts from our expert advisors.”
