Global Chamber chair re-elected to Birmingham Consular Association role
Keith Stokes-Smith, honorary chair of the Greater Birmingham Global Chamber of Commerce, has been re-elected as chair of the Birmingham Consular Association.
His re-election was confirmed at the Consular Association’s annual general election.
Dr Nikolaos Batis, Honorary Consul of Greece, was elected as vice-president.
Mr Stokes-Smith (pictured) served at the inaugural president of the Greater Birmingham Commonwealth Chamber of Commerce – which later became the Global Chamber – and also chaired the Birmingham Commonwealth Association.
Keith said: “The association was founded in 1882 and clearly much has changed since then both in the world and as to the role and functions of the diplomatic corps at a local level.
“The Birmingham association, covering the Midlands, is the umbrella body for some 20 plus local diplomats and is one of 10 associations in the UK.
“We are the beating heart of the country with a particular focus on trade, Diaspora and culture.
“I look forward to a further year in office promoting our members interests and doing so in the spirit of engagement, collaboration and partnership.”
