Golf club gets in the swing to save lives

Eighty golfers of all abilities, male and female recently came together for a charity golf day in aid of local lifesaving charity Arrive Alive.

Arrive Alive is the UK's only registered charity of its kind dedicated to funding lifesaving resources for communities from defibrillators to voluntary operated 999 vehicles, with more vehicles needed. At present there are eleven voluntary operated 999 vehicles across the Midlands providing emergency medical assistance within those vital minutes prior to a road or air ambulance, each vehicle is dispatched to a medical emergency by West Midlands Ambulance Service.

Debbie Roscoe, founder of Arrive Alive, said: “Thank you to the club secretary Charlie Brittain and the seniors secretary Terry McAnulty for organising the first charity golf day in aid of Arrive Alive. Their support along with the participants of the golf day has been wonderful. Following the golf day it will become an annual event to help with raising vital funds.”

The charity golf day has enabled eight hundred pounds to be raised, with the support of the participants of the golf day, a raffle and an auction. Arrive Alive is solely reliant on public donations and fundraising events to enable their lifesaving work to continue. Hatchford Brook will be hosting the golf event in 2024, details will be released in coming months.

Charlie Brittain, Club Secretary of Hatchford Brook Golf Club, said: “Thank you to all the members and non-members who took part in the charity golf day for Arrive Alive, their support made the event a great success. I would like to pass on my thanks to the staff at Hatchford Brook who assisted on the day. I look forward to working with Arrive Alive in 2024.”
