Good Business Forum shines light on key topics
A new quarterly business forum which allows Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce members to explore how the business community is tackling key subjects launches in the New Year.
The Good Business Forum series will focus on given a platform for businesses to share tips, experiences and questions on profit with purpose, environmental and social governance (ESG), social value and CSR related fields.
The first event will take place on 11 January at a Birmingham city centre venue (3pm to 5pm).
Recent events have led to businesses exploring their wider role in society.
This quarterly forum for GBCC members explores how businesses are tackling this subject and why.
Each event will feature a panel comprising a business case study, a professional adviser and a representative from the public or third sector - all of whom will share their insights and perspectives before a series of roundtable discussions.
The first event is in partnership with Chamber patron RSM and will feature guest speakers Deb Leary (Chamber president and CEO of Forensic Pathways), Paul Callum (associate director, ESG advisory at RSM UK) and Ravinder Masih (Warwickshire County Cricket Club head of community engagement/Government relations at the Edgbaston Foundation).
The forum is co-chaired by GBCC chief executive Henrietta Brealey, who said: “When it comes to subjects like environmental and social governance the number one question we get asked is 'how are other businesses approaching this? '
“This member forum will give businesses the opportunity to learn from each other and build a network of likeminded leaders looking to explore or articulate their business ' wider role in society.
“Whether its tackling climate change, shifting consumer priorities on ethical business or articulating a business ' culture to help attract and retain talent in a competitive market, a number of businesses have started approaching this agenda from a variety of different angles. We are excited to be able to bring all of this interest, insight and expertise together with this new series.
“We are delighted to be partnering with Chamber patron RSM on this first event. With their growing expertise in ESG related fields and very genuine approach to actively engaging in and supporting their wider community, I am looking forward to hearing their perspective on this agenda. ”
Newly appointed Chamber president, Deb Leary (pictured), said: “As president of the Chamber with a focus on global trade, I am delighted to contributing to 'The Good Business Forum '.
“Business is fundamentally about three key things: People, places, planet. How we engage with our stakeholders, our cultural appreciation and our impact on the environment, all are fundamental to our brand, our ethos and our success.
“People, places, planet - these things may not remember what you do, but they will remember and be impacted by how you do it. ”
