Grace Cares volunteers learn breathwork techniques at wellbeing session
Lichfield-based circular economy enterprise Grace Cares has held a Coffee, Cake and Catch Up session for its volunteers, welcoming local business Nicola Kathryn Coaching to lead a session on breathwork techniques.
The sessions, held twice a year, give volunteers the chance to connect, share experiences and take time for their own wellbeing.
Grace Cares, a predominantly volunteer-run not-for-profit supporting the social care sector, said the session recognised that supporting vulnerable people in the community, while rewarding, can also be demanding.
Emma Smith, co-founder of Grace Cares, said: "Our volunteers give so much to support people across our community, so it's important we give something back. Sessions like this remind everyone that it's okay to pause and look after themselves too."
Nicola Forsyth, of Nicola Kathryn Coaching, led the breathwork session.
Nicola says breathwork offers a simple, accessible and evidence-based way to regulate the nervous system and reduce stress by creating moments of calm — skills that can benefit volunteers both in their roles and in everyday life.
She said: "It was a privilege to spend time with the Grace Cares volunteers.
"Breathwork is a simple but powerful tool to help regulate the nervous system, manage stress and calm the body and mind. It was good to see the group give it a go, come together and support one another."
Grace Cares is looking for volunteers to help on an occasional or regular basis.
