Grant helps beauty wholesaler on their development journey
A Tamworth firm has successfully received more than £3,500 funding boost thanks to a Tamworth Borough Council small business grant and Enterprise 4 Success scheme.
Midland Hair and Beauty Supplies, which is based in Tame Valley Business Park, opened their business in February 2020. The company are a wholesaler of ethical, cruelty free, vegan friendly, paraben free hair and beauty products, focussing on sustainability approach to products.
Owner Seamus Phillips, attended the three-day course with Blue Orchid and received a grant of more than £2,500 in March 2020, from the Enterprise 4 Success scheme, supported by Tamworth Borough Council 's Economic Development team.
An additional £1,000 has now been awarded to the company as a small business grant to support the growth of the business following the pandemic challenges.
Midland Hair and Beauty Supplies offer some exclusive vegan and cruelty free hair colour and styling products, aiming to have a more ethical service lead approach to hair and beauty supplies offering a local service to local salons across the Midlands and Staffordshire.
Seamus and wife Mandy, have more than 20 years ' experience in the hair and beauty business. They aim to reach out to more local businesses and colleges, offering not only ethically sourced products, but training courses for technicians to upskill and demonstrate their wide range of sustainable products.
The Enterprise for Success Small Business Grant Support Programme, offer grants up to £5,000 for businesses who have recently commenced trading or have been operating for three years.
The programme is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund and managed by Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council in partnership with Tamworth Borough Council 's Enterprise Centre. The grants awards up to 50 per cent funding ranging from £1,000 to £5,000 to an existing small business in the Greater Birmingham and Solihull and The Marches LEP areas.
Cllr Stephen Doyle, Cabinet member for Economy and Waste, said: “It is great to see a local company going from strength to strength and through the help of the small business grants, are developing their premises and working with local businesses.
“Supporting small and local business is a key priority for the council and the public of Tamworth, especially during the pandemic recovery.
“Small businesses are the foundation of any thriving economy and using the council 's Economic Development team for support and advice can only help grow and repair the local economy."
Seamus Phillips, operations director of Midland Hair and Beauty Supplies, said: “The awarding of this grant has given the company a significant push forward in its development. It has helped us develop our premises so that our clients can visit us and pick up our products in store. We also offer a free local delivery service with no minimum order required.
“We are incredibly grateful to the business grants and we hope that other SMEs in Tamworth will take the opportunity to access this funding to gain the benefits that we have. ”
