Hardy Signs complete Snowdon climb for homeless charity
Signage specialists Hardy Signs have completed their charity climb in aid of YMCA Burton.
On the 29 of October 2021, the Burton and District YMCA will be holding their annual sleepout to raise much-needed funds for those in crisis and the homeless.
Every year, the team at Hardy Signs raise money by taking part in the sleepout, however this year they embarked on a bigger challenge.
Chloe Deville, marketing assistant, came up with the idea of climbing Snowdon with the idea of pushing the team into doing something none of us had before.
In just under 3 weeks, the plan was created to take the Llanberis path in Snowdonia up 1,085 metres high (3,560 ft).
The team set off from Hardy Signs at 5 am and made it to Wales for around half past 8. By 9 am, they had set off on their way up the mountain. The views were great until about halfway up when they carried on through the clouds. By midday, they 'd reached the top of the mountain where they celebrated the long hike up.
After a total of 6 hours altogether, the HS team had officially made it up and down Snowdon.
So far the team have raised £1,655.90 with the aim of raising £2,000 by the sleepout at the end of October. The money raised contributes to an array of different things from replacement birth certificates so they can register for GP surgeries, dental practices, bedding, hot meals, counselling sessions, move out packs and much more.
Chloe Deville said: “It was certainly at lot harder than we 'd originally expected it to be, but it was a fantastic experience overall. When we started getting closer to the top you could really feel the drop in temperature.
"We 're so grateful for all the donations we 've had so far, to raise the amount we have so far for the YMCA is a great achievement. We are still taking donations up until the 29 of October when the sleepout is too, so if like to donate head over to our website to find out more ”
