Have your say on skills development in West Midlands
Three local Chambers of Commerce collaborating on the Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP) are calling on businesses across the region to give their input on the West Midlands and Warwickshire LSIP Survey.
In September 2022, Coventry & Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce, the Black Country Chambers of Commerce and the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce (GBCC) partnered to secure the delivery of the West Midlands Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP).
As part of ongoing research, the three Chambers across the West Midlands are surveying businesses regarding their skills needs and experience of post-16 technical education and training.
Feedback will help to shape how public funding is spent on training to support local businesses, and ultimately shape the future of skills development in the West Midlands and Warwickshire.
The LSIP seeks to provide an agreed set of priorities that employers, providers and stakeholders in the region can get behind to drive change.
The LSIP places employers at the heart of local skills systems, facilitating direct and dynamic working arrangements between employers and providers and ultimately shaping the future of skills provision across the region for years to come.
Emily Stubbs (pictured), GBCC senior policy and projects manager said: "For years, businesses have struggled with persistent skills gaps in the West Midlands and Warwickshire, many of which were exacerbated by the economic impacts of the coronavirus pandemic.
“This research will directly contribute to a statutory plan to better align skills provision with local business needs, enabling business growth and improving access to opportunities within the region.
“By contributing to the survey, your experience and insights will help to inform the availability of skills in the workforce across the West Midlands and Warwickshire."
Participants will also be invited to enter a prize draw at the end of the survey, as a thank you for contributing, to win an overnight stay and afternoon tea for two at Coombe Abbey (Terms and Conditions apply).
