HCR Law has expanded its legal offering in Birmingham and the wider West Midlands, with four practice areas receiving new rankings in the 2026 Legal 500.

The firm's employment, banking and finance and commercial property teams have all received new recognition in the latest rankings, while its corporate and commercial practice has retained its Tier 1 position in the West Midlands and Birmingham.

The results highlight the breadth of legal support available to businesses across the region, with HCR Law's Birmingham offering spanning corporate and commercial advice, employment, property and finance.

The Legal 500 is a leading directory for legal services, with its rankings based on research among clients and legal professionals.

The new Birmingham and West Midlands rankings form part of a record year for HCR Law nationally.

The firm achieved 70 firmwide rankings and 65 individual lawyer recognitions in the 2026 results, including 10 first-time rankings and eight practice areas that improved their tier position compared with 2025.

In Birmingham, the firm's corporate and commercial practice retained its Tier 1 ranking, reinforcing its position in one of the firm's key strategic regions.

The recognition follows the team's recent achievement of being named the leading legal adviser for M&A activity in the UK by Experian.

The latest Legal 500 results also include first-time recognition for employment: Health and Safety, Employment: Immigration, Banking and Finance and Real Estate: Commercial Property in the West Midlands and Birmingham.

Across the firm, HCR Law received 197 individual lawyer mentions, including 36 Leading Partners, 10 Leading Associates, 14 Next Generation Partners and five colleagues recognised in the Hall of Fame.

Rod Thomas, (pictured) managing partner, said: “These results reflect the trust our clients place in us and the dedication of colleagues across the firm.

“Over the past year, we've continued to invest in our people, our offices and our specialist expertise, while expanding our presence in key regions.

“Securing 12 new rankings and 10 ranking improvements demonstrates the strength of our full-service offering and the quality of advice we provide to clients across England and Wales.

“As we continue to grow, we're committed to building on this success and delivering exceptional outcomes for our clients."

Alongside the team rankings, HCR received more than 200 individual lawyer mentions, including 43 Leading Partners.

The directory also recognises 14 Leading Associates, 18 Next Generation Partners and seven colleagues listed in the Hall of Fame.
