Burton YMCA has announced a range of sponsors for their upcoming Sleepout, happening this Friday.

The event is an opportunity for people to experience the discomfort, feelings and emotions associated with sleeping rough for one night only, in a safe and secure way - while raising vital funds and awareness.

The event is being held at two locations Burton Albion’s Pirelli Stadium and the XTREME event at St Modwen’s church graveyard.

It is a chance to spend the night sleeping outdoors to raise awareness and fundraise for YMCA Burton, who operate homeless outreach facilities, housing, foodbank, affordable furniture through their shops and mediation & counselling services in the East Staffordshire Borough area.

The headline sponsor of the Sleepout is Ansons Law.

Jamie Gill, solicitor and joint head of corporate and commercial at Ansons Law, said: “Everyone needs a safe place to sleep and YMCA Burton works every day to make that a reality for people in desperate need.

“Ansons Law is proud to be the Headline Sponsor of this year's YMCA Sleepout in Burton and to stand alongside an organisation that does so much for people in crisis.

“We’re encouraging colleagues, clients and local businesses to support us on Friday, 6 November, whether by braving the chill and taking part, sponsoring a sleeper or making a donation.

“A single night out in the cold is a momentary hardship, but the money raised helps YMCA Burton provide housing, food and support that can change lives for the better."

Ansons Law is headquartered in Cannock, Staffordshire and has offices in Lichfield, Sutton Coldfield and Dudley.

The firm offers a full range of legal services, including conveyancing, wills, probate, estate planning and family law, to individuals and businesses across Staffordshire, Birmingham and the Black Country.

The charity has also been joined by the Junction Micro Pub, a local establishment in the village of Stretton as media and marketing sponsor.

Micro-pub owner, Fraser Chatburn, who is also sleeping out again this year, said: “We are proud to be the media & marketing sponsor for the YMCA Burton Sleepout.

“As a local business based in Stretton, we support and value our local community and have taken part in the Sleepout a number of times.

“We have seen first hand the impact they have on the lives of others and it’s a privilege to sponsor the event. Last year we had a Junction team who gave up their beds and slept in the graveyard for the night and we are back this year to do the same.

“One night sleeping rough and raising much needed funds will help YMCA Burton continue their great work - changing lives.”

Speaking about the partnerships, Fundraising & Partnerships Manager, Paula Senior, said, “We are thrilled to have secured our Headline and Media & Marketing sponsors for Sleepout this year, from two very different organisations. Ansons Law will be joining us for the first time and have a team of 8 signed up.

“They are bravely taking on the extreme event at the graveyard.

“The Junction Micro Pub joined us last year with a team and are returning again this year to the graveyard both as a sponsor and with a team.

“To have the support of both of these Businesses is amazing, we value their support and look forward to them joining us on the 6 November.

Age is no barrier to take part in the sleepout with the youngest participant to date being just 18 months old and the oldest being 93.

Individuals, families, work colleagues, friends, and community groups all sign up to help make a difference.

Ticket sales are now online and can be found on the website.

People who cannot take part can still donate by contacting fundraising@burtonymca.org.
