Her Majesty The Queen: Transatlantic leaders pay tribute
Transatlantic business leaders have paid tribute to Her Majesty The Queen following her death.
James Tait, president of the Greater Birmingham Transatlantic Chamber of Commerce, said: “Queen Elizabeth II has been a symbol of stability and permanence in otherwise challenging times and has had a key role in cementing relationships between the UK and the rest of the world.
“The significance of her role in the transatlantic alliance that exists between the UK and the United States and the legacy she has left is unquestionable.
“Throughout her time as Queen, there have been 14 presidents of the United States - and the Queen personally met with 13 of them, hosting many and carrying out a number of both public and private visits to the United States.
“In the words of President Biden: 'She helped make our relationship special '.
“The legacy of that relationship will now pass to King Charles III to preserve. ”
Duncan Edwards, chief executive of BritishAmerican Business, of which the Transatlantic Chamber of Commerce is part, said: “On behalf of the members and directors of BritishAmerican Business I would like to express our sadness as we heard the news of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
“Hers was the most extraordinary life, dedicated to public service for more than 70 years, which will never be matched.
“She was a remarkable figurehead for the United Kingdom and was admired and loved as much in the United States as she was at home. She will be very sorely missed. ”
