Business leaders in Sutton Coldfield today expressed their deepest sympathy to the Royal Family following the death of Her Majesty the Queen.

Tributes were led by Phil Arkinstall, president of the Sutton Coldfield Chamber of Commerce, who said: “It 's a sad time for our country as we mourn the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

“The Queen has been a constant in all our lives who embodied duty, integrity and was deeply respected for her service to the UK and the Commonwealth.

“Our thoughts are with King Charles III and the entire Royal Family during this difficult time. ”

Henrietta Brealey, Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce 's, chief executive, said: “The Queen has been a reassuringly constant and consistent figure throughout many of our lives.

“Her 70 years of loyal and dedicated service to this nation as our Monarch is unrivalled. She was the Patron of the British Chambers of Commerce and most recently wrote of her pride at the business community 's civic response to the pandemic.

“While Her Majesty was a figurehead, a symbol, for many, she was also a phenomenal individual. Our sincere condolences and thoughts go out to the Royal Family and those close to her as the nation joins them in mourning her passing. ”

Following the Queen 's passing, the country has entered an official period of mourning.

Sporting fixtures today have largely been cancelled or postponed while theatre performances will observe a minutes silence. Details regarding the Her Majesty 's funeral are expected to be announced shortly. It is likely to be declared a Bank Holiday.
