Trading opportunities with Canada are in the spotlight at an exclusive event jointly hosted by the Greater Birmingham Transatlantic and Commonwealth Chambers of Commerce.

The member-only event on Friday 8 April will be the first visit to Birmingham for Ralph Goodale - Canada 's High Commissioner to the UK.

Mr Goodale will be providing his thoughts on the significant trade and investment relationship that already exists between Canada and the UK, the launch of negotiations for a new Free Trade Agreement and the UK 's accession to the CPTPP (Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership) agreement, of which Canada is already part.

There will also be an opportunity to hear from former Chamber CEO Paul Faulkner, now chief of staff and operations at Richardson/RCL Partners, Warwick Wakefield customer experience director from hot food-to-go display manufacturers Flexeserve and Elisabeth Lewis-Jones, CEO of media agency Liquid PR - who will each be speaking about their experiences of trading with Canada.

Mandy Haque, international director at the Chamber, said: “Hot on the heels of welcoming the US Embassy to the region for a very popular and productive event, the attention now turns to Canada to explore the important trading relationship it holds with the UK.

“We 're delighted to be welcoming High Commissioner Ralph Goodale to Birmingham for the first time and we look forward to hearing his thoughts on what the future holds for trade between our two countries - including Canada 's goals in the process and how the partnership can be further strengthened. ”

The event is taking place in Birmingham and is exclusive for Chamber members.
