High praise for Solihull students during STEM racing day

Students from WMG Academy were praised for their technical expertise and communications skills during a recent STEM racing day hosted by Harper Adams University.

The students demonstrated impressive communication skills and technical knowledge which attracted significant attention throughout the event, with many visitors praising the quality of their stand.

The students engaged confidently with university lecturers, asking insightful questions about future study pathways.

This led to an exciting two-day experience opportunity at Harper Adams, including practical engineering challenges and track experience in a Bentley Bentayga.

The event also secured a valuable new partnership with Make UK, who will deliver a dedicated Women in STEM experience day, highlighting future career pathways and opportunities within industry.

During the event, student team Accelerating were nominated for best portfolio with an outstanding score of 58/60, and all-girls team Velocitor, were nominated for best presentation.

Associate principal Claire Morris said: "We are proud of all our students. They represented the academy with real distinction, showing confidence, teamwork and ambition throughout. Opportunities like this highlight just how talented and capable our young people are."
