Birmingham 's director of public health and a key figure in the region 's arts and culture sector are to speak at the launch of a major Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce report this week.

The Chamber 's Quarterly Business Report briefing for Q1 on Thursday focuses on 'Adapting to the New Economic Landscape in Greater Birmingham '.

Guest speakers for the webinar are Dr Justin Varney, director of public health at Birmingham City Council, and Erica Love, director of Culture Central.

The event, sponsored by Birmingham City University, takes place from 8am to 9.15am.

Dr Varney has been a regular at the QBR briefings since the pandemic and will be providing another update on the impact of Covid-19 across the city-region.

Erica Love (pictured) is a director of Culture Central, a sector support organisation and collective voice for arts and culture in the region.

Culture Central advocates for the sector, acting as a catalyst to generate radical new approaches to investment and sustainability and brokering cross-sector collaborations and partnerships.

Raj Kandola, head of policy at Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce, said: "It 's fantastic to see that we are joined by two high calibre guests for our upcoming Quarterly Business Report launch event which looks ahead at the prospects of an economic recovery as national restrictions begin to ease.

"Dr Varney has become a mainstay at this event over the last 12 months, offering clear and consistent advice on what the latest Government policy means for businesses and the practical steps that businesses can take to navigate the next few months.

"I 'm sure Erica will bring a raft of insight around the challenges the cultural sector in our region is facing right now and the challenges that businesses in the sector will face in restarting operations in a safe and timely fashion."

The event is free to both members and non-members.
