Family-owned company Salts Healthcare is celebrating  its expansion into Australia and New Zealand.

Having recently grown its turnover and market share in the UK and Europe, the Birmingham-based business now has international offices and operations across all five continents.

Peter Salt, Salts Healthcare group chairman said: “After successfully working with agents for many years, to further strengthen our connection with the stoma community, Salts Healthcare has transitioned to a direct business model in Australia and New Zealand.

“This means that we will now provide our products and services directly, ensuring a more personal and seamless experience for patients and healthcare professionals.

“Our business has grown significantly over the last two decades due to the creation of innovative products which have been life-changing for people living with a stoma.

“Indeed, in the past three years, we have worked closely with both stoma nurses and patients across various countries to design the world’s first ostomy product with an interchangeable cover system - Confidence BE go™ which is already helping people feel more in control of their stoma care.

“I am immensely proud to launch this breakthrough innovation in Australia and New Zealand, and look forward to a successful business journey directly with healthcare professionals and patients across this region.”

Founded in the early 1700s, Aston-based Salts Healthcare designs and manufactures products for people living with a stoma.

After the Second World War, Peter and Robert’s father Edward Salt worked with surgeon Professor Brian Brooke to create the first modern day stoma bag.

Salts CEO Robert Salt said: “Our continued success and expansion is due to having a great team. We have always invested in the best people and the Salts way is to give our teams the freedom to experiment, be creative and enjoy.

“The result is that they want to push the boundaries of stoma care science. I am so very proud of the team and would like to thank them; they wholeheartedly believe in our values, ethos and dedication to continually innovating to improve people’s lives.

“We look forward to a successful business journey throughout Australia and New Zealand, but most importantly, supporting our many customers across this region.”
