The world 's longest running play - Agatha Christie 's The Mousetrap - is returning to Lichfield 's Garrick Theatre as part of its 70th anniversary tour.

The murder mystery, which first debuted in London 's West End in 1952, runs at the Garrick from Monday 27 March to Saturday 1 April.

Agatha Christie is the world 's best-selling novelist, with an estimated two-billion books sold.

She is also the only female playwright to have ever had three plays running simultaneously in London 's West End. Her books and plays have been adapted into countless TV series and award-winning films.

Over the years, The Mousetrap has evolved into a can 't-miss destination for visitors from every corner of the globe wanting to play their part in a piece of theatre history.

As news spreads of a murder in London, a group of seven strangers find themselves snowed in at a remote countryside guesthouse.

When a police sergeant arrives, the guests discover - to their horror - that a killer is in their midst.

The 70th anniversary production stars Todd Carty (EastEnders, The Bill), and Gwyneth Strong (Only Fools and Horses, EastEnders).
