A Hollywood star is set to host an awards ceremony celebrating local unsung heroes and community champions, recognising their outstanding hard work and dedication.

Social housing association Trent & Dove, based in Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire, has launched its bi-annual Community Impact Awards 2026, spotlighting the strength of its community and thanking the individuals and groups in a glitzy awards ceremony.

The hosting duties will be led by Sally Phillips (pictured), well known for her role in Bridget Jones’ Diary, as well as TV comedies Miranda and Smack the Pony.

Celebrating its 19th year, the awards celebrate individuals and organisations that go above and beyond to dedicate themselves to improving the lives of those in their communities.

Trent & Dove CEO Ursula Bennion said: “We are proud to be once again recognising the remarkable individuals and organisations whose dedication makes such a difference to our local communities.

“The Community Impact Awards are a wonderful opportunity to celebrate those who go above and beyond, often quietly and without recognition, to improve the lives of others.

“At Trent & Dove, we work hard to Transform Homes, Lives and Communities, and these awards reflect the very heart of that statement.

“We are absolutely delighted to have Sally Phillips hosting this year’s ceremony - her humour and passion for community perfectly capture the spirit of these awards.

“We encourage everyone to consider nominating a neighbour, volunteer, project, or organisation that deserves to be celebrated.”

Trent & Dove is welcoming nominations and sponsorship from across East Staffordshire, South Derbyshire and North West Leicestershire.

Finalists will be treated to an elegant red carpet event at Burton Albion’s The Pirelli Stadium where they will feel like Hollywood stars.

The categories are:

Neighbour of the Year; Gardener of the Year; Volunteer of the Year; Best Community Project; Community Champion, over 18; Community Champion, under 18; Protecting the Planet Award; Street/Community of the Year, Charitable Organisation of the Year, and Special Recognition.

Previous winners include Amy Lowe from Tea & Tots, who was crowned Volunteer of the Year in 2024. She set up Tea and Tots in 2022 to help end parent loneliness. She supports people with anxiety and depression and ensures that all children are fed a healthy snack.

To ensure the event is an overwhelming success, Trent & Dove is seeking generous organisations and individuals who are willing to provide important sponsorship.

In turn, they will receive exclusive benefits to thank them for their vital contributions.
